Two brothers die, another in critical condition after falling into well in Ashur subdistrict

SALAH AL-DIN — Two brothers died and a third was left in critical condition after falling into a water well in one of the villages of Ashur subdistrict in Sharqat district, Salah al-Din governorate, local health officials said Friday.

Imad Jassim, a paramedic at Salah al-Din Teaching Hospital, told 964media, “Last night, Friday, the three brothers were working on a farm digging a well and managed to dig about six meters. At that time, two of the brothers remained inside the well without making any sound, and the third brother went down after them. He felt that his brothers had died due to a lack of oxygen.”

He said the lack of oxygen was caused when the drilling machine released smoke and the space filled up, cutting off air circulation.

“One of the brothers who died was married, the other was single, and their ages ranged between 25 and 30,” Jassim said. “The third brother is now unconscious and under medical supervision.”

The victims were identified as Abdul Muneim Ibrahim Aswad Ali and Manhal Ibrahim Aswad Ali, while their brother Mohammed Ibrahim Aswad Ali was rescued and transferred to Sharqat General Hospital.
