Dry heat continues across Iraq with possible dust in southern and desert areas

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s Meteorological Authority said Thursday the country remains under the influence of a surface thermal low and dry air mass, bringing continued hot to very hot summer weather and mostly clear skies.

Some northern areas and parts of the Kurdistan Region may see scattered cloud cover, according to the authority’s daily bulletin.

Temperatures are expected to remain steady compared to Wednesday, with a slight decrease forecast in some locations.

Northwesterly winds will blow at speeds of 10 to 20 km/h, occasionally intensifying in central and southern regions. Stronger gusts could lead to dust activity, particularly in desert areas.

Horizontal visibility is expected to range from 8 to 10 kilometers in most regions but may fall to 4 to 6 kilometers where dust is present.
