Short circuit blamed
Gas station fire in Tuz Khurmatu injures two, including child
TUZ KHURMATU — A fire broke out Monday at a gas station in the Suleiman Beg subdistrict of Tuz Khurmatu district, injuring two people, including a child, according to local authorities.
Amjad Abbas, director of civil defense in Tuz Khurmatu, said the blaze was triggered by an electrical short circuit that occurred when the station owner tried to operate a generator.
The station owner and a child sustained partial burns while attempting to contain the fire and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Firefighting teams, assisted by local residents, managed to bring the fire under control shortly after the incident.
