KRG health ministry issues Eid Al-Adha readiness plan for hospitals and public services

ERBIL — The Kurdistan Regional Government’s Ministry of Health has issued a set of directives to public health directorates and hospitals ahead of Eid al-Adha, aiming to ensure uninterrupted medical services and full emergency readiness during the holiday, which begins Friday, June 6.

In a circular distributed to health authorities across the region, the ministry called for the formation of monitoring committees at hospitals and local health departments, emphasizing the importance of 24/7 emergency response and the establishment of dedicated hotlines for urgent cases.

Medical supply centers, laboratories, and pharmacies will remain operational in all cities and towns. The ministry also ordered continuous staffing of specialized and resident doctors, nurses, and support staff throughout the holiday period.

Ambulance services are required to remain fully prepared, with fuel supplies secured in advance. Emergency departments must operate around the clock, with mandatory documentation of all patient visits and medical interventions.

Other services, including chemical treatment facilities and blood banks, are also to remain active. Health inspection teams will continue monitoring drinking water safety, communicable disease risks, and general public health standards.

Health teams will inspect animal slaughter sites to ensure adherence to health and safety regulations. A dedicated emergency health team will also be deployed to tourist areas to provide on-site support during the holiday.
