Iraq Weather Forecast
Hot, Dusty Conditions Expected to Continue Through Early June
BAGHDAD, May 29 — Iraq is experiencing a spell of hot and dry weather due to a surface thermal low-pressure wave, according to the country’s meteorological authority. The wave is bringing clear skies, elevated temperatures, and dust across much of the country, with conditions expected to persist into early next week.
A statement from the General Authority for Meteorology and Seismology said light to moderate dust is forecast in scattered areas, particularly in the western, northern, and some central regions. Winds are expected to blow from the northwest at moderate speeds of 20–30 km/h, with occasional dust-raising activity.
Visibility may drop to between 3 and 5 kilometers in dusty areas during the daytime, with noticeable improvement during the evening and night hours.
Temperatures are expected to decline slightly by 3–4°C compared to earlier in the week, but hot conditions will persist in central and southern provinces. Northern and western areas will see more moderate temperatures.
Looking ahead, the forecast indicates continued clear and dry weather through Monday, June 2. Wind speeds are expected to remain steady, with some increase in central and southern areas. Temperatures will remain high in the southern provinces, with slight fluctuations in the central and northern regions.
The meteorological authority urged residents, especially in southern Iraq, to take precautions against heat and dust, and to remain hydrated during peak daytime hours.
