Five arrested for assaulting traffic police officer in northern Baghdad
BAGHDAD — A security force from the Ministry of Interior arrested five individuals on Sunday for assaulting a traffic police officer in the al-Zuhur traffic sector in northern Baghdad, the ministry said in a statement.
“A security force from the Ministry of Interior arrested five persons who assaulted a traffic police officer in the al-Zuhur traffic sector in northern Baghdad,” the statement read.
The ministry added that legal procedures were taken against the suspects, who were referred to the judiciary “to receive fair punishment for their attack on a traffic officer while performing his duty.”
The incident comes weeks after a separate case in Basra, where a traffic officer was seriously injured in April after being deliberately struck by a truck driver who refused to comply with road restrictions. The officer lost one leg and sustained severe trauma to the other.
