Khazali, Hakim stress stability, ‘fair elections’ during Baghdad meeting
BAGHDAD — Qais Al-Khazali, secretary-general of the Asaib Ahl Al-Haq movement, met Thursday with Ammar Al-Hakim, head of the National Al-Hikma Movement, to discuss political and security developments, with both leaders emphasizing “the importance of maintaining internal stability and strengthening national understandings,” according to a statement from Al-Khazali’s media office.
The two also discussed preparations for the upcoming Arab League Summit, scheduled for Saturday in Baghdad.
They further called for creating “appropriate conditions to ensure fair elections that reflect the will of the Iraqi people and support the democratic process.” Iraq’s next parliamentary elections are scheduled for Nov. 11, 2025.

Sheikh Qais Al-Khazali, Secretary-General of the Asaib Ahl Al-Haq movement, received Sayyed Ammar Al-Hakim, head of the National Al-Hikma Movement, today at his office in Baghdad.
During the meeting, they discussed the latest political and security developments in the country, stressing the importance of maintaining internal stability and strengthening national understandings in a manner that serves the interests of the Iraqi people.
The two sides also discussed the importance of the success of the Arab League Summit as a reflection of Iraq’s regional standing and pivotal role in the region.
In the same context, the meeting addressed the upcoming electoral entitlement, affirming the need to create appropriate conditions to ensure fair elections that reflect the will of the Iraqi people and support the democratic process in the country.
