Motorcyclist killed in collision with truck at entrance to Darbandikhan

DARBANDIKHAN — A motorcyclist died Wednesday evening following a traffic collision with a truck near the entrance to Darbandikhan on the road to Kalar, local traffic officials said.

Jasim Mohammed, head of the Darbandikhan traffic department, told 964media the crash occurred when a truck traveling in the opposite direction collided with the motorcycle.

“The incident happened at the Darbandikhan gate. The truck was coming in the opposite direction and collided with the motorcycle,” Mohammed said.

The victim, a 25-year-old man from Darbandikhan district, was transferred to a hospital in Sulaymaniyah due to the severity of his injuries but later died, he added.

Authorities have detained the truck driver while the investigation continues.
