Iraq’s Shia Coordination Framework reiterates call to hold November elections on time

BAGHDAD — Iraq’s ShiaCoordination Framework, a coalition of Shia political parties that leads the current government, on Monday reiterated its call to hold the upcoming parliamentary elections on time.

“The Coordination Framework emphasized the necessity of holding elections on schedule, in a manner that upholds constitutional obligations, strengthens the democratic path, and reflects the will of the people in building a state founded on institutions,” the group said in a statement following its regular meeting.

The Coordination Framework held its regular meeting today at the office of Dr. Haider al-Abadi, with the presence of the Prime Minister, to discuss a number of important national issues.

The attendees reviewed the latest developments in Iraq across political, security, and service-related fields, stressing the importance of national solidarity and prioritizing the country’s supreme interests amid current challenges.

The meeting also addressed ongoing government preparations for the upcoming Arab Summit scheduled for mid-month. Participants praised the efforts aimed at ensuring the success of this prominent Arab event, which will enhance Iraq’s stature and pivotal role within the regional landscape.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Coordination Framework emphasized the necessity of holding elections on schedule, in a manner that upholds constitutional obligations, strengthens the democratic path, and reflects the will of the people in building a state founded on institutions.
