Three killed, one injured in traffic collision in Khanaqin
KHANAQIN — Three people were killed and one injured Wednesday evening in a three-vehicle crash near the village of Nawdoman, at the southern entrance to Khanaqin, local sources and health officials said.
Dr. Shwan Shakir, director of Khanaqin Hospital, confirmed the deaths of two men and one woman. Another woman was injured and transported to the hospital for treatment.
The crash drew hundreds of residents to the scene, where it took more than an hour to recover the third body, according to officials.
An eyewitness who assisted in transporting one of the victims told 964media that the incident began when a tanker truck lost control and struck a pickup, killing both occupants. The tanker then crossed into the opposite lane and collided with a Kia Sportage, killing one person and injuring another.
