Fire contained in Najaf’s industrial neighborhood, no injuries reported
NAJAF — Civil defense teams extinguished a fire Wednesday in Najaf’s industrial neighborhood, with no reported injuries, according to Ali Tweij, media director for the Civil Defense Directorate.
The fire broke out in a car parts store and spread to adjacent shops in Block 3 of the neighborhood. Tweij said the incident caused only material losses.
Ten firefighting teams participated in the response, and forensic units are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
This follows a large fire on Tuesday at a warehouse storing electrical appliances in Awerij, southwest of Baghdad. Firefighting crews isolated the burning stock, stormed the core of the fire, and completed cooling operations. The response prevented casualties and helped minimize material damage.
