Pet hotel in Sulaymaniyah offers supervised care for cats and dogs
SULAYMANIYAH — A pet clinic and hotel in Sulaymaniyah is providing supervised lodging and care for animals whose owners need to travel, offering affordable rates and peace of mind, according to the facility’s owner.
Bayan Aqid, owner of Berivet Clinic and Hotel, told 964media the facility regularly hosts pets, primarily dogs and cats, while their owners are away. Animals receive full-time supervision at a nightly rate of 15,000 IQD ($10), including careful monitoring of their health and well-being until their owners return.
Clients must book appointments in advance and provide reasons why they’re unable to care for their pets during that time.
“When a cat or a dog is hugged by someone who loves them, they become happy. Pets read our hearts,” Aqid said.
Initially, animals can experience anxiety after being separated from their owners, she said, but most adjust over time.
Aqid noted that pet ownership has risen in the Kurdistan Region, but said some people still abandon animals shortly after acquiring them. “Some people buy pets for a specific period and then abandon them,” she said.
She emphasized the importance of responsible pet ownership, noting that pets contribute greatly to emotional well-being but also involve ongoing care and expenses.
“When you come home, a dog runs toward you and warmly welcomes you,” Aqid said. “Pets offer unconditional love.”
Aqid advised prospective pet owners to carefully consider the responsibilities involved before adopting a pet.
