Darbandikhan shop shut down for selling expired cosmetic products
SULAYMANIYAH — Authorities in Darbandikhan district shut down a shop on Sunday for five days after inspectors found expired cosmetic products and regulatory violations, according to a statement from the district administration.
The closure was ordered by the market inspection committee, which confiscated a large quantity of expired beauty items during the inspection. The shop owner is prohibited from reopening during the five-day penalty period.
The action is part of broader efforts to combat the sale of expired goods in cosmetics clinics and shops across the Kurdistan Region.
In mid-January, health authorities in Sulaymaniyah’s Raparin Administration temporarily closed three dermatology and cosmetic clinics in Ranya for violating health and legal standards.
Earlier this year, on Jan. 7, security forces in Duhok seized four tons of expired women’s cosmetic products in two separate operations. Authorities in Zakho also reported the confiscation and destruction of more than 600 tons of expired food and cosmetic items during inspections conducted in 2024.
