Sea captain fatally shot near oil dock in Basra
BASRA — Sea captain Ali Zuhair was shot and killed near the Faw oil dock early Tuesday, a security source said. He was struck by seven bullets and died instantly.
Basra police arrested the suspect before he could flee, and authorities launched an investigation into what they described as a personal dispute.
In a statement, Basra Police Command said, “Faw Police Department personnel successfully apprehended the suspect in a murder case and seized the weapon used, an HS Produkt pistol. It was determined that the crime occurred due to personal disputes.”
The suspect has been taken into custody and referred to the judiciary for legal action.
