One killed, driver injured in taxi rollover in Duhok’s Semel district

DUHOK – A 22-year-old was killed and a taxi driver injured after a taxi overturned on Sejje Road in Semel District, Duhok Governorate, local health officials said.

The fatal incident occurred Sunday afternoon when speeding caused the vehicle to overturn. The victim was trapped beneath the taxi and died at the scene, while the driver sustained injuries.

Haytham Barbahari, a spokesperson for Duhok’s 122 Emergency Health Center, told 964media that emergency teams responded to the crash. “The victim’s body was transferred to Duhok’s forensic department, and the injured driver was initially taken to Semel Hospital before being transferred to Azadi Hospital, where he remains under medical supervision,” he said.

The incident follows a report that a three-year-old was struck and killed by a vehicle in the Bshirian community of Bardarash District, Duhok Governorate, local sources said.
