In five major streets
Erbil implements new ‘Point to Point’ speed cameras
ERBIL, October 15 — On Sunday, all the new “Point to Point” speed cameras were put into operation in five major streets in Erbil. The city’s traffic media also published a list of the locations of these cameras.
The Erbil Traffic Directorate adopted a digital system earlier this year that calculates the distance between speed cameras to determine the actual speed of vehicles by analyzing the difference between points. As a result, the entire road is now under speed camera surveillance, not just the vicinity of the cameras.
Fadel Haji, Erbil Traffic Media:
“The ‘Point to Point’ speed camera system has been implemented in Street 120m, Erbil-Kirkuk, Erbil-Kazna, Erbil-Mosul, and Erbil-Makhmour streets. It will operate on a trial basis until the coming Saturday, at midnight. Starting from October 22, all speed violations will be recorded for enforcement.”
In Street 120m in Erbil, the maximum allowed speed is 110 km/h, while on major roads, the limit is 80 km/h.
