Fuel vendor drives burning truck to firefighters in Soran

ERBIL — A fuel vendor in Soran drove his burning pickup loaded with fuel at high speed through the streets Tuesday, heading straight for the Civil Defense Directorate instead of waiting for firefighters.

The incident unfolded when a generator, used to siphon fuel from one of the truck’s tanks, ignited a fire. Rather than stopping or seeking assistance, the driver sped away as flames engulfed the vehicle.

Circulating footage on social media shows the flaming truck barreling past other vehicles before arriving at the facility’s entrance. In a statement, the Soran Civil Defense Directorate said, “at the time, firefighters inside the directorate were performing their prayers, but they quickly ran outside and managed to contain the fire before it completely consumed the truck.”

The video reveals that the flames primarily damaged the rear of the truck, leaving the front relatively unscathed. No injuries were reported.
