Kurdistan Region reduces government working hours during Ramadan

KURDISTAN REGION — The Kurdistan Regional Government announced Sunday that official working hours across all government institutions will be reduced by one hour during Ramadan. The decision aims to accommodate employees during the holy month.

Last week, the Iraqi government declared a similar adjustment for its ministries, with the cabinet saying that agencies could reduce the workday by one hour—either at the start or the end of the day. Each year, both the Iraqi government and the KRG implement such changes for government employees during Ramadan, with schedules returning to normal afterward.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is observed by Muslims worldwide as a period of fasting from dawn to sunset, during which participants refrain from eating, drinking, and smoking.
