Violent attack on Kirkuk clinic injures doctor, two staffers
KIRKUK — A violent assault on a clinic in the Hajaj neighborhood of Kirkuk injured a female doctor and two staff members on Sunday, according to eyewitnesses and police sources.
Eyewitness Sair Aziz told 964media that the incident began while the doctor was attending to a patient. A man entered the examination room, and the doctor told him, “Brother, it’s better if you knock at the door before coming inside,” Aziz said.
After a brief verbal dispute, the man left and returned around 30 minutes later with five others. The group then attacked the doctor and clinic staff. Aziz added that the attackers targeted the victims’ hands, knees, and faces, causing injuries severe enough to require hospitalization.
A source from Miqdad Police Station told 964media that authorities are investigating the incident and are reviewing surveillance footage in an effort to identify and apprehend the suspects.
Similar incidents occurred in other governorates. last month, a group attacked medical staff and a doctor at Tikrit Teaching Hospital, injuring two employees and a doctor. The Medical Syndicate Council in Salah Al-Din announced the closure of all private clinics on Sunday in protest. The Iraqi Medical Syndicate also denounced the assault and urged stronger measures to protect healthcare workers.
