Fuad Hussein meets Sergey Lavrov
Foreign ministers of Iraq and Russia discuss regional issues, including Gaza and Syria
BAGHDAD, October 11 — Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein met with his Russian counterpart Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow on Tuesday to discuss ways to enhance bilateral ties.
The leaders addressed the issue of dues owed to Russian companies operating in Iraq, as well as regional issues, particularly recent developments in the Gaza Strip and their implications for the region. Hussein and Lavrov reportedly emphasized the importance of concerted efforts to find just solutions to the Palestinian issue.
They also spoke about the current situation in Syrian, highlighting the need for cooperation to secure the Iraqi-Syrian borders.
The meeting was attended by the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister for Middle East and North Africa Affairs and Special Envoy of the Russian President to the Middle East and Africa, Mr. Mikhail Bogdanov.
