Iraqi Red Crescent sends tents and blankets to Lebanon
BAGHDAD — The Iraqi Red Crescent Society has sent a shipment of tents and blankets for displaced families in Lebanon, handing it to the Lebanese Red Cross for distribution.
The supplies are meant to meet shelter needs and help families cope with cold weather, the society said, describing the shipment as part of continuing assistance.
About 360,000 people remain displaced in Lebanon, including at least 22,000 in collective shelters, while some 860,000 have returned to their areas of origin, according to UNHCR figures published this month. Iraq previously prepared to receive Lebanese families during the Hezbollah-Israel conflict, with the migration ministry making arrangements in September 2024 and nearly 5,000 Lebanese arriving by early October that year.
