Al-Halbousi discusses repatriation of smuggled antiquities with Serbia’s president

BAGHDAD, October 10 — The President of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Mohammed Al-Halbousi, met with the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, on Tuesday to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation in education, agriculture, and health.

The leaders also discussed parliamentary cooperation and the activation of friendship committees and the exchange of experiences.

Al-Halbousi emphasized the Iraqi Parliament’s support in achieving economic partnerships across different sectors and strategic projects. He also called for further bilateral cooperation in the field of antiquities, urging the repatriation of smuggled Iraqi antiquities seized by Serbian authorities and expressing his appreciation for Serbia’s efforts in this regard.

President Vučić reportedly expressed his gratitude for Iraq’s support, confirming his country’s readiness to support Baghdad and collaborate in various fields that serve the interests of both nations.
