Kafa’at Park

Spanning one acre, Tikrit’s biggest park opens to public

SALAH AL-DIN – Authorities in Tikrit, Salah Al-Din Governorate, inaugurated Kafa’at Park in the Al-Qadisiyah neighborhood on Wednesday night, making it the city’s largest park at approximately one acre.

The newly opened park features a fountain, children’s play areas, and green spaces equipped with dozens of benches for visitors.

Salah Al-Din Governor Badr Al-Fahal described the park’s opening as a moment of joy, noting that the project was completed in ten months with government funding totaling 450 million IQD ($299,205).

“Tikrit is the foundation and needs rehabilitation. It has faced difficult circumstances since 2004 and through the liberation from ISIS,” Al-Fahal told 964media.

Mahmoud Al-Ajeeli, deputy director of Tikrit’s municipality, stated that work on the park began in April last year on a previously abandoned dirt lot used for parking and waste disposal.

The park includes 40 benches, 40 fixed waste bins, wooden seating areas, and children’s play equipment.
