Badr Organization chief denies plans to dismiss head of Popular Mobilization Forces
BAGHDAD — Hadi Al-Amiri, secretary general of the Badr Organization, has denied reports that any decision has been made to dismiss Faleh Al-Fayyadh, the head of the Popular Mobilization Forces.
“In light of the circulated news and information about the dismissal of Popular Mobilization Forces head Faleh Al-Fayyadh, the Secretary General of the Badr Organization, Hadi Al-Amiri, denies this and confirms that the Coordination Framework leaders did not meet today and did not make such a decision,” Al-Amiri’s media office said in a statement.
Al-Amiri’s remarks come in response to reports by some Iraqi news agencies suggesting that Shia Coordination Framework leaders had agreed to replace several heads of authorities and institutions.
According to these reports, the plan includes replacing Al-Fayyadh, with several potential candidates being considered, including figures from the Dawa Party and a leader from an armed and political faction within the Coordination Framework.
The Coordination Framework is a bloc of Shiite political parties that plays a key role in government formation and decision-making in Iraq. It includes factions such as the State of Law Coalition, the Fatah Alliance, and the Badr Organization.
The Popular Mobilization Forces is a coalition of paramilitary groups formed in 2014 to fight ISIS. While officially part of Iraq’s security forces, it holds significant political and military influence through its affiliated factions.
