Six-month delay

Work on Kifri Gateway, delayed for months due to funding Issues, now back on track

SULAYMANIYAH — Construction work on the gateway in Kifri district, part of the Garmian independent administration in Sulaymaniyah, has resumed after a six-month delay. Initially projected to be completed within 90 days, the project remains only half finished.

Ali Khurshid, the mayor of Kifri, informed 964media that the completion of the gateway was postponed due to financial issues that halted progress. “For a while, no work was done on the gateway project because the necessary funds were not allocated,” he said.

Khurshid added that the contracting company has resumed work after financial resources were made available and plans are underway to accelerate the project’s completion.

He stressed that the total budget allocated for the gateway is 340 million dinars (approximately $226,667). To date, 50 percent of the work has been completed, with part of the road temporarily closed to facilitate faster progress of the construction.
