Al-Sudani meets with King Charles III to discuss ‘historical’ UK-Iraq ties
NEWSROOM — Iraq’s Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani met with King Charles III on Tuesday at Buckingham Palace, where they discussed “strengthening” Iraq-UK relations across various sectors, according to a statement from Al-Sudani’s media office.
“The meeting reviewed bilateral cooperation […] and explored opportunities for establishing productive partnerships in various economic and developmental fields,” the statement said. Climate change and cultural collaboration were also discussed.
Al-Sudani expressed gratitude for the official invitation, emphasizing Iraq’s commitment to fostering “constructive bilateral relations in various sectors to promote mutual and sustainable interests for both the Iraqi and British peoples.”
Al-Sudani traveled to the United Kingdom on Monday to meet with officials and business leaders, focusing on discussions about economic cooperation, investment opportunities, and security partnerships.
