Harir tomato factory in northern Erbil exporting tomato paste to the U.S.
ERBIL, October 8 — The management of the Harir Tomato Factory in northern Erbil announced on Saturday that they have exported 25 tons of locally-made tomato paste as their first shipment to the United States. They emphasized that the product sent is 100% locally manufactured.
The Harir Tomato Factory is a private sector project established in the 1980s and reopened in 2021. It annually processes 2,500 tons of locally grown tomatoes.
Shwan Hamid Batassi, the factory’s manager, stated:
“Today, we sent 25 tons of tomato paste as the first shipment to the United States, through the Turkish port of Mersin. We plan to send larger quantities abroad, and the entire shipment is of Iraqi origin and locally made.”
