Four arrested in Duhok’s Zakho for alleged theft of safe

DUHOK – Police in Zakho, in Duhok governorate, have arrested four individuals accused of stealing a safe full of money, according to a statement by Zakho Police Media Director Ahmed Ramazan.

Ramazan stated that authorities were alerted to a theft at a commercial establishment and quickly launched an investigation. “After thorough follow-up, the suspects were apprehended, and the stolen money safe was recovered,” he said.

The suspects allegedly used a getaway vehicle to transport the safe and attempted to tamper with surveillance cameras at the scene, as shown in police-released footage. The stolen safe contained a mix of U.S. dollars, euros, and Iraqi dinars.

The suspects are being held under Article 443 of the Iraqi Penal Code as the investigation continues. Further legal action will follow pending the completion of inquiries.
