Ammar Al-Hakim: ‘Iraq is experiencing an unprecedented level of stability’
BAGHDAD — Ammar Al-Hakim, leader of the Hikma Movement, stated on Monday that Iraq represents “an important model” with its political system, peaceful leadership transitions, and separation of powers, adding that the country is experiencing “unprecedented stability” across all levels.
Al-Hakim also expressed his support for “resolving crises” and overcoming disputes, during his meeting with Victoria Taylor, deputy assistant secretary for Iraq and Iran in the U.S. Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs.
Statement from Ammar Al-Hakim’s media office:
We met this morning with Ms. Victoria Taylor, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Iraq and Iran in the U.S. Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, and discussed the developments in the political situation in Iraq and the region, as well as updates on bilateral relations in a way that serves the interests of both countries.
We affirmed that Iraq presents an important model with its political system, peaceful transfer of power, and separation of powers. We explained that Iraq is experiencing an unprecedented level of stability on political, social, and security levels, and noted that this stability is the result of the sacrifices made by Iraqis from all components.
We pointed out that there is support and commitment from all Iraqis to preserve and sustain this stability and transition it into permanent stability. We also expressed support for resolving crises, moving beyond disputes, and prioritizing the interests of the nation over personal interests.
We emphasized Iraq’s ability to defend itself and stressed the importance of strengthening internal unity and maintaining national cohesion and solidarity.
