Baghdad Police arrest gang behind Molotov cocktail attack on grocery store

BAGHDAD — Baghdad police arrested four members of a gang on Tuesday after they attacked a grocery store in the Dola’i area with a Molotov cocktail, causing a fire that left the store owner with burn injuries across his body.

The Ministry of Interior said in a statement, “four suspects threw a Molotov cocktail at a grocery store in the Dola’i area of Baghdad, resulting in the store catching fire and injuring its owner.”

Following the incident, the Baghdad Karkh Police Command formed a specialized task force to investigate. They identified and located four suspects and arrested them, the statement said.

Legal procedures have been initiated against the men. Police say they confessed to committing the crime due to personal disputes with the store owner.

Authorities have confirmed that further legal measures are being taken as the investigation continues.
