22-year-old Akre worker dies in electrocution

AKRE — A 22-year-old worker lost his life on Thursday, after being electrocuted while working in a building in central Akre district, Duhok province.

Nechirvan Fakhreddin, spokesperson for the Akre Health Directorate, told 964media that the worker, a resident of Dinarte sub-district, died instantly after coming into contact with live electricity during his work.

“The worker’s body has been transferred to Akre Forensic Medicine for examination, and following the completion of the necessary procedures, it will be handed over to his family,” Fakhreddin stated.

According to statistics from the Duhok branch of the Kurdistan Workers’ Syndicate, six workers have lost their lives in work-related accidents in Duhok province since the beginning of this year.

Earlier this week, Erbil’s Western Emergency Hospital issued a warning about a rise in electricity-related fatalities, urging citizens to take extra precautions to avoid further incidents. The warning came after five citizens have lost their lives due to incidents involving electricity in only seven days.
