SULAYMANIYAH — A civilian injured in last month’s shooting at the Kurdsat Police Station in Sulaymaniyah passed away on Sunday after spending 28 days in a coma, medical sources confirmed.
Taha Rahim, a cousin of the victim, said that his relative remained unconscious in the hospital following the attack and succumbed to his injuries today.
On Oct. 24, two security personnel and a civilian sustained injuries when gunmen opened fire near the Kurdsat Police Station.
A security source told 964media that the shooting may have been related to a personal dispute between the parties involved, without revealing further details.
In the same day, the Sulaymaniyah Police announced that all suspects involved in incident near the Kurdsat Police Station have been arrested.
Reportedly, some related to the man who died today set fire to the house of one of the suspects involved in the incident. According to eyewitnesses who spoke to 964media, the incident occurred after the victim passed away.
Eyewitnesses alleged that several women from the victim’s family went to the suspect’s vacant home and set it ablaze, causing the upper floor to burn.
The house, which had been abandoned prior to the incident, was empty at the time, and no injuries were reported.
