Recycled artwork exhibition opens in Halabja, featuring 28 pieces crafted from repurposed textiles
HALABJA — An exhibition showcasing artwork created from recycled textiles opened in Halabja on Sunday, displaying 28 unique pieces by local artist Husna Hawrami. Organized with support from the Halabja Directorate of Culture and Arts, the event highlights environmental consciousness through art.
Husna Hawrami, who describes herself as the only artist in Halabja specializing in recycled art, told 964media, “I have been dedicated to my art for 15 years, and during this time, I have held four solo exhibitions.”
Hawrami’s collection features 28 pieces made entirely from repurposed fabric and garments. “I’ve found a way to prevent these used clothes from ending up in nature by incorporating them into my artwork,” she explained, emphasizing her commitment to recycling.
In addition to the art pieces, eco-friendly fabric bags were distributed to attendees to encourage the use of sustainable alternatives to plastic. Hawrami noted that the initiative aims to raise environmental awareness, encouraging visitors to choose reusable bags over disposable plastic options.
