Basra hosts movie screening event organized by new Cinema Club

BASRA — The city of Basra hosted a movie screening event on Sunday organized by the newly formed Cinema Club. Founded by a group of young filmmakers and writers, the club aims to showcase both local and international films, offering opportunities for learning from diverse cinematic experiences and enriching Basra’s growing film scene.

Haider Ghazi, a Basra-based film director, emphasized the importance of the initiative, telling 964media, “The club was founded through an important youth initiative, with the aim of screening films by directors from Basra and beyond.” He added that the gatherings foster collaboration and motivate filmmakers to exchange ideas for future projects.

Rita Ara, another filmmaker, shared her experience with 964media, saying that the Cinema Club has boosted her confidence and provided her with a fresh perspective. She hopes similar events will continue, as they offer valuable opportunities for young filmmakers and recent graduates to grow and collaborate.
