Iraq forward Ayman Hussein discharged from hospital after rib injury in World Cup qualifier​

NEWSROOM — Iraqi national football team forward Ayman Hussein was discharged from a hospital in Kuwait on Monday after receiving treatment for a rib injury sustained during a match against Oman in the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Hussein shared a photo on his Instagram account with the medical staff at Al-Sabah Hospital before returning to the team’s hotel. According to team officials, his health has stabilized, allowing him to rejoin the squad.

The 28-year-old forward suffered the injury following a hard collision during the game, which led to internal bleeding. Despite the injury, Hussein continued playing until the 84th minute but was substituted due to severe pain. His condition worsened after the match, and he was transported from Basra to Kuwait for urgent medical care, where he underwent surgery to address the injury.
