Art and heritage festival highlights emerging talents in Anbar’s Baghdadi
ANBAR — The Cultural House in Hit district hosted the “Art and Heritage Shine in the Cradle of the Euphrates Baghdadi” festival in the Baghdadi sub-district of Hit, western Anbar. The festival aimed to provide a platform for emerging talents and was part of broader efforts to establish a cultural house in Baghdadi.
The event featured an art exhibition with 100 paintings depicting national, natural, religious, and other diverse themes, as well as handmade crafts. Artists and poets also participated, with poetry recitals covering romantic, popular, and classical themes.
Farouk Nawaf Al-Issawi, president of the Artists Union’s Anbar branch, told 964media, “The exhibition included 100 paintings, indicating the love of the locals for culture. The festival was not limited to the artworks; it also featured cultural activities such as poetry recitals, singing, and music.”
The festival concluded with a brief report on the geography, history, and tourism of the Baghdadi sub-district.
Issa Al-Jouani, a poet from Baghdadi, said his participation was aimed at presenting a positive image of the city. He noted that poets from both Baghdad and Anbar contributed, showcasing the heritage and authenticity of Baghdadi and the wider Anbar area.
“The festival is a first step toward establishing a cultural house. It also drew attention to Baghdadi, which has many talents,” Murad Mohammed Al-Jouani, a civil activist, told 964media. He emphasized the importance of supporting local talents and urged authorities to provide more backing for cultural initiatives in the city.
