400 attend
Local event in Anbar showcases women’s talents
QA’IM — In western Anbar’s Qa’im city, a volunteer group organized an event called “Makers of Hope,” which brought together 39 women to display their projects and talents. The event, characterized by its organizers as a “great success” with “unexpected attendance,” aimed to offer financial support to the women through the sale of handmade items like meal dishes, paintings, and sculptures.
Lyth Al-Hashimi, the organizer of the initiative, told 964media that the event attracted more than 400 people. “The primary goal was to generate income for the 39 participating women, allowing them to showcase their talents and introduce their work to the public,” Al-Hashimi said. He noted that most participants were from families of martyrs and the missing.
The initiative plans to expand across all cities in Anbar to foster talent among women and youth. Al-Hashimi credited the success of the event to the collaboration among team members and support from the local government.
Participant Layali Saleh highlighted the significant role of women in the community and their exceptional skills in creating food dishes, crafts, and paintings. “I call for genuine attention from organizations to support these small projects, which would provide financial benefits to the women and their families, many of whom lack salaries or social care,” Saleh concluded, emphasizing the need to support and empower women.
