Sound grenade causes panic

Kirkuk police arrest drug dealers following pursuit

KIRKUK – The Kirkuk Police Command on Monday announced the arrest of suspected drug dealers following a high-speed chase along Baghdad Road in central Kirkuk. During the incident, a sound grenade was deployed by the suspects, causing panic among residents who reported hearing an explosion accompanied by flames and smoke.

Lieutenant Colonel Amer Shawani, a spokesperson for the Kirkuk Police, addressed the incident in a statement to 964media: “Several social media pages incorrectly reported that a sound device explosion in the Baghdad Road area caused material damage to some shops. In reality, the police were engaged in a pursuit of drug dealers, during which the suspects threw a sound grenade at our patrols. This led to the arrest of one individual involved in the drug dealing.”

“Anyone found spreading rumors or false information will face legal consequences,” Shawani warned

Legal measures have been initiated against the suspects involved.
