Iraqi Hajj mission wins honorary Labaytumm Prize
BAGHDAD – The Iraqi Hajj mission received the prestigious “Labaytumm” Grand Prize for the highest standards among Islamic Hajj missions for the second year in a row. Saudi Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Tawfiq Al-Rabiah, awarded the prize to Sami Al-Masoudi, head of the Iraqi Hajj mission, during the Hajj closing ceremony in Saudi Arabia.
Iraq was selected from 72 countries participating in this year’s Hajj. The criteria for the award included organizational aspects, documentation, accommodation, catering, transportation, and the management of pilgrims’ groups, as well as the performance of medical and administrative teams.
Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani congratulated the Iraqi Hajj mission, stating that the award recognized the competence of Iraqi institutions both domestically and internationally and the government’s commitment to serve Iraqi citizens everywhere.
This year, over 35,000 pilgrims from Iraq traveled to Saudi Arabia for Hajj, including 4,685 from the Kurdistan Region.
