Iraq welcomes international transit projects enhancing regional economic ties

BAGHDAD, September 11 — Government spokesperson Bassam Al-Awadi said on Monday that Iraq welcomes all international transit projects in the region, as Baghdad aims to transform the country through its own Development Road project connecting Al-Faw Port in Basra to transport networks in Turkey.

Al-Wadi mentioned the North-South project in neighboring Iran, the Great Corridor project through Saudi Arabia and Jordan, and the Belt and Road project connecting Iran and Turkey.

He emphasized that all of these projects, upon completion, will strengthen the economic interconnectedness and importance of the region.

Furthermore, Al-Awadi expressed that the Development Road project is both fundamental and complementary to these initiatives.

He further highlighted its cost-effectiveness, proximity, and potential economic benefits for all regional countries.
