Bombardment reported in Sulaymaniyah’s Penjwen area

ERBIL – A bombardment occurred early this morning in Sulaymaniyah province’s Penjwen district, a security source reported. The shelling took place between Kani Miran Komary and Saliawa villages at 3:55 a.m., according to Jwamir Ali, a resident of Kani Miran Komary.

Officials have not confirmed any casualties or injuries, and no ambulances were dispatched to the targeted location. Eyewitnesses noted that the same area had been shelled multiple times in recent weeks.

The cause of the bombardment is unknown, but the Penjwen district has previously experienced attacks from Turkish drones targeting alleged Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) targets in the area.

This strike follows another recent attack in the Kora Shal Mountain of the Raniya district in eastern Sulaymaniyah today.
