Pledges to 'intensify' attacks

Iraqi Islamic Resistance group claims stikes on two Israeli targets

BAGHDAD —  The Iranian-affiliated Islamic Resistance in Iraq claimed on Saturday that it had targeted two locations in Israel.

In a statement, the group claimed responsibility for launching two “Al-Arqab” cruise missiles. The first missile reportedly struck a target near Haifa in northern Israel, while the second it claims hit the “southern part of our occupied lands.”

Israel has not confirmed the strikes.

The group’s statement, which opened with a Quranic verse, cited their “continued resistance to occupation” and support for Palestinians and Lebanese people. The group also pledged to intensify its operations.

This follows a drone strike days earlier in the northern Golan Heights that resulted in the deaths of two Israeli soldiers and injuries to 24 others. The two explosive drones were launched from Iraq, with Israeli air defenses intercepting one. The second drone struck an Israeli military base, leaving two soldiers in serious condition.

These recent strikes originating from Iraq could provoke stronger Israeli military responses, heightening tensions and raising the possibility of further escalation in the region.
