Hidden in cosmetic product packages

Illegal hormones seized at Erbil airport

ERBIL – A team from the Kurdistan Medical Control Agency (KMCA) intercepted smuggled hormone drugs at Erbil International Airport on Thursday. The drugs were hidden in cosmetic product cartons within suspicious packages identified during routine inspections.

Mohammed Khorshid, a KMCA spokesperson, informed 964media that the airport cargo section team uncovered a significant quantity of these illegal drugs.

“The smugglers intended to bypass the airport inspection teams, but the KMCA team, using their expertise, scrutinized the packages and discovered the hormone drugs,” Khorshid added.

The number of arrested smugglers remains unknown.

Over the past six months, the KMCA has intensified efforts to combat unregistered and smuggled drugs, urging citizens to purchase medications with proper stickers and avoid unregistered drugs due to significant health risks.
