Qatar consulate opens in Erbil
ERBIL — The Qatari consulate in Erbil was inaugurated on Sunday in a ceremony attended by Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, Secretary General of Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Hassan Al-Hammadi, and Qatar’s Ambassador to Iraq.
During the event, Prime Minister Barzani emphasized the KRG’s commitment to strengthening relations with Qatar, stating that the Kurdistan Region is ready to cooperate and support efforts to advance bilateral ties.
The ceremony also introduced Hussain bin Ali Al-Fadhala as the consul general of Qatar in Erbil.
“Last year, the first shipment of Kurdistan’s agricultural exports arrived in the Qatari market. We’re also in talks regarding industry, banking, and renewables. Today, we inaugurated the Qatar General Consulate in Erbil to help bridge trade and strengthen people-to-people ties,” PM Barzani said in a tweet.
According to the KRG’s media and information office, there are currently 41 consulates, consular offices, embassy offices, agencies, and honorary consulates operating in the Kurdistan Region.
