Border guards stop truck smuggling fertilizer

SULAYMANIYAH, July 26 — Border guards in Sulaymaniyah governorate foiled an attempt to smuggle chemical fertilizer hidden inside large bags of Iranian salt at the Rabeen border crossing on Tuesday.

Border authorities issued a statement that read:

“As per the directives of the authorities and within the activities of the First Region Border Guard Command, a patrol unit from the Customs Police Center in Kili managed to seize a truck loaded with 25,610 bags of Iranian salt. Upon inspection, it was found that the bags contained agricultural chemical fertilizer. The owner of the truck attempted to illegally smuggle the fertilizer into the country, in violation of customs regulations. The seized items were handed over to the relevant authorities.”
