Floods cause severe damage in Daqouq

KIRKUK — Heavy rains inundated parts of Daqouq, Kirkuk, on Friday, leading to submerged vehicles, traffic disruptions, and home flooding. According to 964media, this unusual downpour was the heaviest Daqouq had seen in years. The rain flooded many internal roads and submerged several vehicles. The flooding reached homes in the Damerchi area, damaging properties and causing some walls and power poles to collapse.

Civil defense teams and local police worked to rescue residents and mitigate the flooding by clearing blockages in the sewage system.

Yesterday, floodwaters significantly rose in Kirkuk’s Shoraw neighborhood, damaging 20 homes. The deluge affected many houses, demaging household belongings and rendering electrical items inoperative.

A homeowner told 964media, “Water has flooded our entire house, leaving nothing usable, but we’re safe.”
