Suspect arrested in Najaf for stealing Arbaeen pilgrims’ phones
NAJAF, August 31 — The Ministry of Interior announced on Wednesday the arrest of an individual accused of stealing phones from pilgrims in Najaf.
In a statement received by 964, the Ministry said:
Units from the Mughaweer Regiment of the Third Region Border Command, participating in the security measures for the Arbaeen pilgrimage to Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), managed to apprehend a robbery suspect in Najaf Governorate. The arrest took place at a checkpoint during security operations to ensure the safety of pilgrims heading towards the holy city of Karbala. The suspect was found in possession of six mobile phones that he admitted to stealing from pilgrims. He was handed over to the relevant authorities to complete the legal procedures against him and to return the phones to their rightful owners.
