Kirkuk police arrest 33 for gambling

KIRKUK — Security forces raided a gaming hall in Kirkuk on Friday, apprehending 33 individuals engaged in gambling activities, according to a statement from Kirkuk Police received by 964 media.

Acting on local tips regarding a gambling establishment operating in the vicinity of Al-Qoriya neighborhood, Al-Qoriya Police Station personnel and SWAT units of the police command conducted a joint operation.

The security forces arrested all individuals participating in gambling activities within the hall, including prominent traders and businessmen.

They confiscated surveillance camera footage and other evidence, along with the money involved, and initiated legal proceedings against the offenders.

The police statement stressed that “such practices of deception and fraud to gain money through illegal means are against the law, social customs, traditions, and religious values, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.”

The detained individuals are currently held under Article 389 of the Penal Code, awaiting judicial procedures.
