Life sentences to drug traffickers in Al-Rusafa

BAGHDAD, August 27 — The Al-Rusafa Criminal Court issued life sentences for five drug traffickers involved in the sale of the narcotic substance methamphetamine in various areas of the capital, Baghdad.

In a statement released by the Judicial Media, a copy of which was obtained by Network 964:

“The Al-Rusafa Criminal Court issued life sentences for five drug traffickers for their involvement in the sale of the narcotic substance methamphetamine.

According to the Supreme Judicial Council’s media correspondent, One of them was arrested at the northern entrance of Baghdad coming from Erbil province, with one kilogram of the narcotic substance in his possession. Two others were apprehended in the Al-Obaidi area with narcotics intended for trafficking and distribution among users.

The correspondent added, The same court issued two more life sentences for individuals caught with one kilogram of narcotics intended for trafficking and sale to users.

The sentences were based on Article 28/A of the Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law No. 50 of 2017.”
