Mosul’s heritage foundation unveils tourist guidebook
MOSUL — The Mosul Heritage Foundation has unveiled a unique tourist guide spotlighting the archaeological and tourist landmarks of Nineveh, including mosques, heritage churches, ancient buildings, and public parks, alongside 40 restaurants and hotels.
This guide, available in both Arabic and English and incorporating QR codes for easy location access, marks a pioneering initiative in Mosul designed to spur tourism growth.
Ayoub Dhanun, the director of the Mosul Heritage Foundation, shared with 964media that this guide is the fruit of years of dedication to positioning Mosul as a premier tourist destination. This effort has drawn considerable interest from international visitors and from across other Iraqi governorates.
Initially concentrating on archaeological sites and recreational areas, the guide has grown to feature restaurants and hotels keen to support the tourism resurgence in the region.
“This project is a collaboration between the Mosul Heritage Foundation and the Basma Group. It required four months of intensive research, photography, design, and translation efforts,” Dhanun noted.
“Historian and archaeologist Dr. Ahmed Qasim Al-Jumaa gave the guide a thorough review. He was really impressed with how comprehensive it was,” said Fars Abdul Sattar, an advisor to the Foundation. He added, “The guide aims to serve as an invaluable resource for tourists and tour guides, offering concise and easily digestible information about the rich cultural heritage and modern attractions of Nineveh.”
